About GOG
Growing Our Girls, LLC (GOG) is a resource for moms committed to raising their daughters with intention. We define intentional parenting through practices like modeling healthy behavior, spending quality time and fostering open communication with your daughters. These are common values for many of us, but actually practicing what we preach can be a different story, even on our best days.
After interviewing and conducting focus groups with over 50 moms raising girls from toddlers to teens, we heard one major theme loud and clear. Moms want to be part of a community. For themselves and for their girls. Being part of something bigger than yourself and with others going through similar struggles and milestones provides a sense of belonging and connection that we all strive for.
The GOG Community aims to provide just that for our moms and daughters, whether you’re located in the Charlotte area or connected to us virtually. We offer regular opportunities to meet with fellow moms and give your daughters the chance to see you stretch yourself with fun, out-of-the box experiences alongside her own friends and peers. To strengthen your understanding of challenges and milestones facing your daughter and family, we also provide the chance to hear directly from experts in the fields of mental and physical health through workshops and speaking events.
Kristin Mountcastle, Founder of GOG
A mom of 3 daughters, Kristin knows the power of women uniting around a common cause and the potential that lies within. After the birth of her second daughter in 2016, Kristin developed the vision to create a platform that would empower the girls she was beginning to raise. Then life continued to evolve, bringing the birth of her third daughter and a whirlwind of milestones to follow. Fast forward to 8 years later, Kristin feels better poised than ever to pick up where she left off to leverage her background in psychology, health and wellness to build a platform that empowers not only our girls, but their moms, too.
An advocate for mental health since her own teenage years, Kristin obtained her BA and MS in psychology from NC State University and the University of Georgia. For nearly a decade, she pursued a career in organizational development through various HR consulting capacities in Charlotte and surrounding areas, gaining valuable experience with large and small group curriculum design and facilitation. It’s Kristin’s mission to build a welcoming community of moms and daughters to help take some of the fear and dread out of growing up girl in today’s society. The overwhelm brought on by modern technology paired with the inevitable physiological changes headed our way is enough to make any mom panic. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Growing Our Girls is a collective effort. Let’s grow them (and ourselves!) together.
